Yes we know it’s the middle of winter, and it’s colder than a well-digger’s foot, but the deep winter has us wishing for the good-ol’ days of summer – namely our most favorite of outdoor street festivals – Palatine’s Streetfest! And while it’s not officially confirmed, we’ve heard it from friends in the know, that organizers are starting to plan now!
For those that don’t know, the Palatine Downtown Streetfest is a free event that is open to the public and takes place at the end of August, beginning of September, usually from 10am-9pm. The event will be taking place on Smith Street between Wood and Palatine Avenues in Palatine, Illinois. There will be music, food, and vendors at the event. This event is the first of its kind for Downtown Palatine, IL so come out and show your support!
The Palatine Arts Commission has put together an awesome line-up of local music talent last year including headliners – The Sugar Kings, Mr. Mudd & Mr Gold, Melodic Intrigue, Souled Out, Green Room Rockers vs. The Palatine Fuzz, and The Shake Ups in Popsicleland. The Sugar Kings are headlining the event starting at 6pm.
Like last year, there will also be four food vendors at this year’s Streetfest including Lolly’s Q, 626 N Smith Street; Soda Jerk (formerly Beavers), 318 N Smith Street; and two food trucks: Bull and Swine BBQ Food Truck and Pizza-Parm.
The Palatine Historical Society will have a tent set up as well with information about the history of Palatine, so stop by to learn more! Also, there will be kids activities provided by the Palatine Park District at their booth during the day at the event.
